Whether the upcoming cold snap stays, or goes, one thing is for sure, winter is knocking at the door.
Luckily, two of our Member Clubs are ready and rolling for the upcoming change in season, with recent announcements.
First up, the Fernie Trails & Ski Touring Club announced yesterday that their huts are opening this winter. With a few COVID precautions.

“The province has permitted opening backcountry cabins under Phase 3 of the provincial reopening plan. As such the club will reopen the cabins putting in place COVID Operations PLAN. Booking rules, waivers, capacity, what to bring and cleaning have changed to please read and understand the new policy before booking.”

Memberships are now available on their site, so if you’re looking to tour this season, get your membership now, to be ready for when hut bookings open:
On November 1, 2020 bookings go online for the period ending on January 31, 2021. On January 15, 2021 booking go online for February & March and the remainder of the winter season.
Meanwhile, the Fernie Nordic Society has been working hard in preparation for their season.

“The Fernie Nordic Society and its volunteers aim to promote cross-country skiing as a healthy winter activity for all ages. You will support our network of groomed cross-country ski trails in Fernie by purchasing a membership for 2020-2021 or a day pass. Your membership makes it possible for us to professionally groom and track set the trails all winter season long as well as to provide porta-potties at our trailheads.”
There are also ways to donate online too, to further support this fantastic club.
