Nominated for BC Parks Volunteer Group of the Year

The FTA was nominated for the BC Parks Volunteer Group of the Year for 2012. The fact that we were nominated recognizes all of the hard work and dedication our volunteers have accomplished. Thank you and keep up the good work. More details can be found on BC Parks website.

Trail Name Contest

We need your help! The Fernie Trails Alliance is looking for a new name for the Cedar Valley Connector Trail. This trail will allow recreation users to travel safely up to Island Lake Lodge via the power line leaving from the lower Island Lake parking lot. This project is directed to provide a recreational opportunity for young families and intermediate users.

New Pocket Trail Maps Available

Our new pocket maps are now available at GearHub Sports, The Guide's Hut, Ski Base, and Straight Line Bike & Ski.

Thank you to Teck for sponsoring our maps. All proceeds will go back to the Fernie Trails Alliance.

Funds Received from Wild Mountain Fernie Ultra & Enduro Event

Terry Nelson, the President of the Fernie Trails Alliance was presented a cheque in the amount of $4550 from the Fernie TransRockies Society last week at the TransRockies Challenge opening ceremonies. This cheque was as a result of the Wild Mountain Fernie Ultra and Enduro Event held in Fernie the end of June. These funds will go back into maintaining the Fernie trails we love! Thank you to all volunteers, participants and organizers who made this donation possible.

Wild Mountain Fernie Ultra & Enduro

This new event was held on June 29th and 30th. The Ultra challenged runners to 80km and 3000m of climbing. The Enduro was a 39km bike with 4 timed descents including Verboten, Project 9, Red Sonya and Hyper Extension totalling 1,822 m. The Fernie Trails Alliance provided a number of volunteers to help flag the courses and assist on the event days.
